Fried EQ8 Controller Board

OK, mea culpa!

As it is summer and it doesn't really get dark, I decided to 'tidy up' the wiring in the dome, and mothball the Celestron C11 for the foreseeable future - all the planets now do not rise above my tree line :-(.

During the re-wiring, I managed to mis connect the pos. and neg. of the power supply to my mount. Turned on, get a click - all lights go out - oops.

A frantic search around UK dealers found only one controller board available in the UK or its a 4+ month lead time. The dealer in question was still only asking the going price, so I got it shipped immediately.

fitting, following some instructions found on the EQ8 yahoo group took less than 1 hour in actual time and about 5 years off my life in stress time - its all up and running again.
